Cinnamon Rolls

First of all, thanks Mare for including me in this blog! I really enjoy cooking and am always looking for a good recipe! This should be a lot of fun!

This recipe is one that's been in my family for years. It is by far the best recipe for cinnamon rolls I've tried!

Cinnamon Rolls

2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 Tbsp. sugar

Stir together and let stand for 5-10 minutes.

2 c. scalded milk
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
6-7 c. flour (add to kneading consistency)

Filling:
4-6 Tbsp. butter, melted
sugar
cinnamon

Add butter to milk, then add sugar, salt, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix well. Add flour gradually. Dough should be slightly sticky. Let rise until double in size, about 45 minutes. Roll out on floured surface. Drizzle melted butter over dough, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Fold over and slice lengthwise in 1 inch rows. Twist and form into rolls. Place in a greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and frost.

Makes about 18-24 rolls.

Cream Cheese Frosting:

4 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 Tbps. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. milk

In a large mixing bowl, mix cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until creamy. Add powdered sugar and milk alternately, mixing until desired consistency.
